Education is when you read the fine print; experience is what you get when you don't.... -Pete Seeger
Tuition includes cost of most woods. The cost of particularly exotic woods, hardware, electronics and any other parts are the responsibility of the student. The Canadian School of Lutherie has parts available at discounted prices, or students can bring their own parts.
All courses are non-refundable. Overdue accounts are charged 10% interest monthly on balance owing.
Shop hours are 11am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Occasional Saturdays are optional for students.
We cannot guarantee that all
projects will be completed by the course conclusion due to each person's
needs and work habits.
At the end of each course, students receive a certificate of completion signed by each instructor as well as a reference for future jobs they may apply for.
Accommodations
CSL does not provide student accommodations, but we will assist students in finding suitable
accommodations within a close proximity to the shop. There are four universities in the Halifax area, making available rooms and apartments plentiful throughout the year. Students who have posted ads on kijiji.ca have always has success in the past.
CSL also has a list of contacts who are willing to offer housing to our students. Every effort is made by affiliate
homes to provide the best possible living quarters. We recommend that, as representatives of the Canadian School of Lutherie, our
students maintain appropriate behavior and conduct themselves
accordingly, however maintaining the landlord-tenant relationship is ultimately the responsibility of the student.
